Warren Wants ‘Gansett!

“Hi ‘Gansett, have a neighbor!”

In case you haven’t heard, Warren is crazy for Narragansett Beer. The brewery, once long ago located by the bay in Rhode Island but now contract brewed in NY and CT, is looking for a new home in the Ocean State. Well, as luck would have it, Warren has a gorgeous waterfront and a historic mill waiting for the right project to bring it back to life.

The merchants of Discover Warren, along with some enthusiastic residents, have launched a campaign to bring ‘Gansett to Warren. Read more about it and help us out!

Weekend!

Here it is, what to do with yourself this weekend in Warren!

Saturday

  • It’s all happening. The Warren Quahog Festival begins today at 10am. You name the activity, they’ve got it! Pony rides? Of course. Rock climbing?? Heck yeah! Bungee jumping??? What? But yes, they have that too! Not to mention, you know, quahogs and a variety of seafood that would make Neptune himself jealous. Music, art, and the famous lobster raffle round out the festivities. If you can’t make it today, there’s still Sunday! (Burrs Hill park, 10-8, free parking and admission)

Be in the know about what else is going on in Warren this weekend at This is Warren.

It’s Shuckin’ Time

The Quahog Festival is this weekend, July 16 and 17, 2011, at Burr’s Hill in Warren! And you know what that means…

1. Seafood. Lots of it. Quahogs, clam boils, chowder, clam cakes… you name it, we are pulling it out of the ocean and serving it up. Deliciously.

2. Arts & Crafts. Because it just wouldn’t be a festival in Warren if we didn’t include a generous helping of art: kids crafts, a juried art show, and more.

3. Shopping. Vendors will be at Burr’s Hill to show off their wares, but if you need to cool down, take a stroll down Water St. + Main St. and visit some of Warren’s lovely (and air conditioned) boutiques.

4. Eating. Did we mention that already? Be sure to check out new restaurant Trafford along with Warren favorites like Stella Blues, The Sunnyside, or Samantha’s, or grab an iced coffee at the Coffee Depot (directions and details here).

Not to mention music, bungee jumping (before the seafood chowdown, we hope), and more. Free admission + free parking, or be eco-friendly and take bus #60 from Providence/Bristol/Newport, the East Bay Bike Path, or a boat!

Hope to see you!
