Vivian Eyre, poet and Imago Foundation for the Arts (IFA) community member will discuss her inspiration and creative process in writing her new book, Ishmael’s Violets on Sunday, February 25 at 2 p.m. at Imago Gallery, 36 Market Street in Warren, RI.
All are welcome to attend this free event.
Published by Kelsay Books, this poetry collection journeys through the vanishing marine world from various perspectives—technology, screens, aquariums—ways of seeing without seeing our part in marine species endangerment.
As former Rhode Island State Poet Laureate Tina Cane wrote, “Through ardent observation, Eyre animates and advocates for our interconnectedness with the natural world and our responsibility to caring for it. Compassionate and urgent, Ishmael’s Violets is eco-poetry activism at its best.”
A book signing will follow Eyre’s talk. All proceeds from book sales will be donated to Imago’s Poetry Events.
