Quadrangle string quartet members EmmaLee-Holmes Hicks and Roseminna Watson on violins, Jacob MacKay on cello and Emily Edelstein on viola will bring a unique flavor of artistry to IFA’s Music at Imago series as the four come together in performance at Imago.

Holmes-Hicks, who holds a doctoral degree from SUNY Stony Brook, and serves as principal second violinist of the New Bedford Symphony, has brought her music across Europe, Japan, South America, Canada, and the United States, performing classical, baroque, and contemporary music, as well as traditional and fusion fiddle music. Watson earned a master’s degree in violin performance from Stony Brook University and an Artist’s Diploma in chamber music from San Francisco Conservatory of Music. In recent years, she has begun to emerge as a singer, composer and multimedia artist. She is a member of Providence-based new music collective Verdant Vibes, and a founding member of the duo Humming Owl with singer/songwriter/sitarist, Pablo Escalante. Mackay, graduated summa cum laude from Brandeis University with a degree in cello performance and holds a master’s degree in cello performance from Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music. He has collaborated with the Silk Road Ensemble, has been a featured performer at the Kennedy Center, and has performed as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States, Europe, and the Middle East.

Edelstein, who holds a bachelor’s degree in viola performance from the Oberlin Conservatory, and who has also performed with members of the Silk Road, is the founding violist, banjoist, and vocalist for Quartet Davis, dedicated to playing innovative original works with a focus on improvisation across multiple folk-music traditions. She is in her third season as resident violist at the Newport String Project.
