Discover Warren on Art Night!

Let’s a take a stroll, shall we? Tonight’s weather forecast: gorgeous. The art scene? Varied and vibrant (it’s Art Night, after all!). So hop on a trolley or otherwise get yourself downtown and see what we’re up to.

We’ll start at the northerly end of Water Street…

The Greenery is hosting “Capers & Crocodiles,” new paintings by Gianna Pergamo. If you’ve never had the time to check out this sweet little shop (they sell fair-trade and local flowers and gifts), this is your excuse.

Simply Devine restaurant is offering a free bottle of wine with the purchase of two  entrees, and is Art Night’s newest business partner (check out the great paintings by local artist Jim Bush adorning the walls).

and head towards the center of town, where…

DISH is continuing their crazy summer sale with 50%-70% off spring and summer styles, with a sneak peek at their fall collection.

Across the street at The Wooden Midshipman, join Warren’s own boutique wine distributors Sage Cellars and local bloggers from Grapes with Dinner as they taste some fun wines and chat about the art of food + drink. (Plus, 10% off all wine references and cookbooks!)

Now head up to Main Street and check out…

An amazing sample sale at MUSE! Artist LeeAnn Herreid (of Individual Icons) will be on hand to talk about her work. “Twenty years at a jeweler’s bench produces a whole lot of unusual and one of a kind pieces. On Art Night, MUSE empties its safe of these ideas so that they can get on to the next phase!” Handmade models, prototypes, overstocks, seconds, irreplaceable and unusual items are or sale.

A new exhibit at Main Street Gallery: “Flight; Feathers and Wings.” All photography is from local locations, with prints available in numerous formats, including framed, matted, and cards.

A visit from artist Jill Harrington (all the way from Beirut!) next door at Studio 67. There will be wine and light fare. Also, resident artist Betty Harrington will be showing work from her ongoing INFIGO Series in conjunction with Betty being a featured artist in ARTSCOPE MAGAZINE in their September/October issue.

Finally, head down Market Street towards artist and artisan haven 30 Cutler Street, and find yourself at…

Imago Fine Art, Warren’s cooperative nonprofit gallery. Art Night featured artist Mary Dondero joins two guest artists: Sean Thomas, a painter from Providence who works with layers to evoke emotion and atmosphere, and Candis Dixon, a ceramic and installation artist who lives and works in Warren. Plus, IFA artist members Eileen Collins, Rose Esson-Dawson, Lisa Legato, Eileen Mayhew, Linda Megathlin and Lenny Rumpler all have work on display.

Top Drawer at The Brass (in the Cutler Mills complex) will be hosting an opening reception for the exhibit “Earth From Above,” with artists Alan Aiello and David Robidoux.

Most shops, galleries, studios, and restaurants will be open until 9pm or later (the free trolley runs between Warren and Bristol until 9pm). And remember, Art Night is a family-friendly event… so bring the kids, if you like. Happy Art Night!

Next Weekend: Finish for a Guinness!

Runners, walkers, joggers, and spectators: save the date for Warren’s annual 5k road race, “Finish for a Guiness”, next weekend! A bit of Water Street will be blocked off starting at 9:30am, so leave the car at home and wander on downtown to cheer on your family and friends.

Finish for a Guinness can be found on Facebook, and they say: “This charitable event is being held to raise awareness and funds for ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. In the winter of 2008, Christopher Stone was diagnosed with ALS at the young age of 34. As a result, the Christopher Stone Fund was established to help support the Stone family as they went through this challenging time. Sadly, Chris lost his fight in the summer of 2009, less than a year after being diagnosed. However, the Christopher Stone Fund continues to actively raise funds for local ALS Chapters, as well as other charitable causes.”

There will be prizes, chowder, and of course, Guinness! See you there.

When: September 2nd, 2012 @ 10am
Where: Old Warren Marina, Water Street, Warren

Warren by boat…

Did you know you can tie up next to our waterfront restaurants? The Sunnyside (Tav-Vino at night) has some limited dockage available, and now Trafford Restaurant also has a slip for guests!

It is a 30″ slip that can be used for either 2 small boats or one large boat. It is located closest to the building behind the Fire Boat. The only thing they ask is that guests check in with the host to let them know they are tied up. If your boat is too large to tie up, just use one of the transient moorings and dinghy in for a lovely seaside dinner out.
