Warren Wants ‘Gansett!

“Hi ‘Gansett, have a neighbor!”

In case you haven’t heard, Warren is crazy for Narragansett Beer. The brewery, once long ago located by the bay in Rhode Island but now contract brewed in NY and CT, is looking for a new home in the Ocean State. Well, as luck would have it, Warren has a gorgeous waterfront and a historic mill waiting for the right project to bring it back to life.

The merchants of Discover Warren, along with some enthusiastic residents, have launched a campaign to bring ‘Gansett to Warren. Read more about it and help us out!

It’s Shuckin’ Time

The Quahog Festival is this weekend, July 16 and 17, 2011, at Burr’s Hill in Warren! And you know what that means…

1. Seafood. Lots of it. Quahogs, clam boils, chowder, clam cakes… you name it, we are pulling it out of the ocean and serving it up. Deliciously.

2. Arts & Crafts. Because it just wouldn’t be a festival in Warren if we didn’t include a generous helping of art: kids crafts, a juried art show, and more.

3. Shopping. Vendors will be at Burr’s Hill to show off their wares, but if you need to cool down, take a stroll down Water St. + Main St. and visit some of Warren’s lovely (and air conditioned) boutiques.

4. Eating. Did we mention that already? Be sure to check out new restaurant Trafford along with Warren favorites like Stella Blues, The Sunnyside, or Samantha’s, or grab an iced coffee at the Coffee Depot (directions and details here).

Not to mention music, bungee jumping (before the seafood chowdown, we hope), and more. Free admission + free parking, or be eco-friendly and take bus #60 from Providence/Bristol/Newport, the East Bay Bike Path, or a boat!

Hope to see you!

cocktail contest: break out the shaker.

Got a favorite gin-based summer cocktail? We want to hear about it!

gin!
Here's the design (except our tee is brown).

Yesterday I noticed we had only one graphic tee left from NH artists Spare Gus Ink, an Alternative Apparel tee in natural brown that says, very simply, GIN (see photo). I thought to myself, why not give it away to someone who really, really loves gin? And what better way to prove your love than sharing your favorite original or little-known gin cocktail recipe!

Head on over to our Facebook page here and submit your favorite recipe. Encourage your friends to “like” your recipe — each “like” is a vote for you! The cocktail with the most “likes” at the end of the week (Friday being Cocktail Day in the Twitter universe, I found out) wins a gift bag from the shop filled with awesome cocktail parephenalia, including a one-serving stainless steel shaker, hibiscus flowers in syrup, retro paper straws, and other cool stuff. Oh, and of course the awesome GIN t-shirt.

Ready, set… shake!
