A Weekend of Music

Here’s what up on the local music scene this weekend:

Women of RISA at the Church Street Coffeehouse

The Church Street Coffeehouse closes out it’s tenth season with the “Women of RISA” on Saturday, June 9th at 8pm. This annual event is hosted by Jan Luby and includes: Tracie Potochnik, Katherine Quinn, Carolyn Waters, and Nellie Walcoff. Jan is known for her engaging, often riveting stage-presence as well as her voice full of passion, range and power. Tracie is known for blending simple arrangements with sophisticated lyrical story telling and brings three chords, the truth and occasionally a mandolin to her shows. Katherine brings unique phrasing, quirky word play, and melodic vocals to the stage and is a performer who endears herself to audiences of all ages. Carolyn is a performing singer/songwriter who fuses blues/jazz/roots and other musical genres into unique unforgetable songs and sounds. Nellie draws from the folk, country and popular song traditions, creating an acoustic hydrid that has attracted fans from 16-60.
