Tim Davey is an abstract artist based in his hometown of Providence, Rhode Island. Most of his art consists of medium- to large-scale acrylic paintings, typically on canvas or on other found material (wood panel, heavy paper, tar paper).
Wholly self-taught and with zero formal education to speak of — earning placement in artistic subcategories such as “outsider art”, “street art”, and “art brut” — Tim has been creating abstract art for a mere six years. Yet with enduring purpose and a relentless persistence he has already managed to develop a thoroughly unique style of painting and has consistently been producing works of art that are resonant, engaging, highly personal — at times even brutally honest. Combining elements of bold gestural mark-making, abstracted portraiture, and the use handwritten/painted text into single pieces, Tim’s works are at once balanced yet tumultuous; chaotic yet cohesive.
