Imago Gallery 36 Market Street, Jazz and Spontaneous Writing at Imago on October 22 12- 3 pm, jazz pianist Emmett Van Leer and trombone player Miles Burke will welcome visitors. On the walls inside, Imago is featuring a retrospective of the lifelong work of photographer Lenny Rumpler and artwork by guest painter Kathy Weber and 16 Imago exhibiting artists.1-3pm, Vivian Eyre, poet and Imago community member, will offer writing prompts to jump start a paragraph or poem for those who would like to try their hand at writing in response to the art in the exhibit. Throughout the afternoon, pairs of other poets will also be stopping in to read their original poems and handout poems by other Rhode Island poets for visitors to take home and share for ongoing enjoyment and inspiration.

History Buff?

Warren is a treasure trove of history and architecture, from pre-colonial days to our industrial working waterfront. Take a self-guided walking tour by clicking on the MAP up top, or visit...

October 8 Historic Walking Tour starting at the Wharf Tavern, 1:00-3:00pm guided by Alexander “Sandy” Scott. An easy one hour, one mile walk covering 400 years of Warren’s history including the Native American culture, King Phillip’s War, the slave trade, whaling, the Dorr Rebellion, and the eventual industrialization of this town. Walk past and hear the history of historic sites such as the Maxwell House, Massasoit’s Spring, the Armory, and the Masonic Lodge. Hear stories from the lives of the settlers, sailors and mill workers including marriages, divorces, suicides, and murders. Come listen and ask questions!

October 8, Bake Sale by The Friends of the Library 

October 29 Family Fun Day at the library with a treasure hunt, face painting, crafts, and a bake sale from 12-4 PM. At 4 PM meet on the front steps of the library for a costume parade down Main St. All registered participants receive a goody bag and a free book!

October 8 Maxwell House is open for tours and discovery from 12-4:30 PM. Step into Water Street’s oldest brick building and go way, way, back… to when the street was a path, boats were built at our busy waterfront and chores took all day! Presented by Massasoit Historical Association.
